Blog Post 1: Topic Interests

 Hello Everyone!

I decided for my capstone class to analyze if gender impacts the language and word choice used when comparing female sports versus male sports. I am planning on using interviews, broadcasts, press releases, and social media posts as my primary sources for this research. I will be looking at frequency of various words or phrases. I am also considering how this research translates to the corporate world in the sense if gender impacts language used in business meetings, emails, and other forms of communication.

I am excited for this class to help guide me through the research aspect because it can be daunting to begin a new research project.

    Hi Ellie! I think this is a wonderful topic. Using interviews, broadcasts, press releases, and social media posts will definitely strengthen your argument. It sounds like your capstone will turn out great. Good luck!

    Your topic for capstone seems very interesting. I also believe this class will help you when pursuing research on your topic. Analyzing language in this sort of way can present some interesting claims when gender is brought into the question. Well done!

 I am currently working on implementing the revisions that were left on my literature review. I have a good idea of the work that I have to complete for my proposal. Recently I have been spending a majority of my time conducting my research (content analysis), but this will set me up nicely for the rest of the semester. I will meet with Dr. B on November 5th, so I will be able to look over my proposal with her then.
