Blog Post 2: Research Topic/Issue with Tentative Sources
Below are 10 tentative sources for my research. Sources 6 and 7 are unrelated to my research topic but their methods (content analysis) is similar to what I will be doing so those sources are useful in that regard. 80% of the sources are from technical writing journals.

Source 5: Stigma in the Comments Section: A Feminist and Anti-Feminist Discussions Online by ADD AUTHOR
Source 6: Artifactual dimensions of visual rhetoric: What a content analysis of 114 peer-reviewed articles reveals about data collection reporting by Abigail Selzer King and Michael J McCarthy

Hi Ellie! These sources look really great! I think they will be very helpful to you when you are writing your paper. I am excited to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteI would say that some topics that are missing from this list are sources that are directly related to my research question. A lot of the sources that are in PTW research journals are vaguely related, but nothing super specific to my topic. All the sources are relevant so it is possible to complete my research, but I could benefit from some more non-PTW journal readings.
ReplyDeleteHi Ellie,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a good start on your sources, so far. I know you'll be distilling more of your topic interest as you plow through and annotate the sources that you've found. At this point, I think the PTW-specific sources thrown into the mix (c/o source list on Canvas) will eventually direct your investigation more towards the lens of PTW. Remember that the sources in the Lit. Review do not need to be directly the same research focus as yours -- as you annotate them, you'll surely find the ones to keep. If you then noticed that nobody seems to have done the same research focus that you plan, that's the gap where you can come in and contribute to the field. :)
After the Annotated Bib and/or Lit Review are done, maybe we can set a quick appointment to brainstorm ideas for your Research Proposal and make the research design more beneficial and applicable to practitioners/scholars within our field. (As always, feel free to set an appt. with me anytime if you need help).
Best,
Dr. B
